At Rubann Salon in Midtown Manhattan, we have developed a line of shampoos and conditioners to help women take responsibility for the health and beauty of their hair.
The most valuable hair care technique we teach clients is how to balance a clean well-rinsed scalp, and moisturized hair shaft. Learning the right balance allows the hair to stay healthy, eliminating dry porous shaft while maintaining body and manageability.
If the hair is already dry, porous, split or broken, using this technique will allow the hair to regain health, beauty and shine in a short period of time.
When shampooing hair, you should concentrate on getting the shampoo on the scalp without involving the ends. Massage your scalp to remove oils, bacteria, dry skin cells and dirt. After rinsing very well, proceed to apply a small amount of conditioner on the ends. Feel the hair absorb the conditioner into the dry and porous cuticle. When the hair feels soft and tangle free, rinse out excess conditioner. Be careful not to over rinse the ends so much that it reverts back to being tangled.
We prefer to use less product, and target the drier areas instead of just globbing the conditioner all over and letting the scalp become dirty again.
All our shampoos are labeled Target to Scalp to remind you where the product goes. You pick a shampoo based on your type of scalp (not the condition of the hair), whether it's dry, oily, or normal.
All our conditioners are labeled Target to Hair to remind you that it goes on the hair and never on the scalp. You choose the conditioner based on how dry or porous the shaft is. It is very important for women with very fine hair to use conditioner even if it's a very small amount, to moisturize the ends. It makes a big difference in how the hair behaves.
Our hair styling products are labeled Target to Hair again to tell you that it only belongs on the hair and not on scalp. You never want to put hair styling products on scalp, it only makes the head feel dirtier quicker and it doesn't help styling.
